Two loops of southern red agate crossed with a run of lapis lazuli, the deep blue set hard against the orange-red. A carved agate bead anchors the centre.
Lapis reached China along the Silk Road long before it was set in jewellery, and the red-and-blue pairing is an old one — blue for the sky, red for the body, the two held together on a single strand.
Materials: 6mm southern red agate and lapis lazuli, carved agate centre bead, gold-tone plated spacers.
Care: lapis is softer than agate and dislikes water. Wipe with a dry cloth, store flat.
Strung and knotted by hand in Ganzhou, China.
